I just bought Martha Stewart’s Handmade Holiday Gifts special issue. It is really inspiring. Happy Halloween Ladies!

Fashion inspiration
So I was watching The View this morning and Isaac Mizrahi was a guest, talking about his fashion lines-Target and couture…also his show Isaac which looks really fun (I don’t think we get it though). Anyhow, what he does is does a quick sketch of what someone would look good in then names the sketch. I love that idea, so much better than just telling someone what they’d look good in. Now I feel like doing some fashion sketches!

New Music
I just downloaded the album by Lily Allen called “Alright, Still.” I think you might both like it. Kind of like Nelly McKay and The Streets combined. Happy listening!

The Christmas Challenge
The weather is getting gloomy and I am starting to get in the mood for Christmas crafts. I had a challenge for myself to make gifts, and I was thinking maybe we could make each other’s gifts this year. Anybody up for it? We could also share ideas on this site for easy crafts for relatives.

Sewing link
This is a good site, I’ve just been perusing it for baby patterns, everything seems really straight forward and simple to make-they have all sorts of sewing projects from bath teabags to skirts.

Movie review
Ed and I watched Tsotsi last night, an amazing South African film based on the novel of the same name (I won’t ruin it for you if you plan to watch it). It’s a bit reminiscent of City of God-one of my favorite movies of all time and one I’ve been trying to find for sale, but as with many foreign films it is really expensive. The soundtrack to Tsotsi features various South African hip hop artists and I must say I was pretty into it, really catchy stuff. More music to buy!

Nan’s official housewife-ness
So, I went to my first Partylite show and my first Tupperware party, all in one day. Such a weird phenomenon, it makes sense for busy moms to have the goods come to them, but its also really strange to be sitting in a person’s house and have someone sell you stuff. I bought two things from Tupperware (mostly because I felt bad for being there and not buying something). The stuff is all kind of overpriced, especially Partylites (buncha hyped up smelly candles). Am I just too cynical for this kind of shit? Some of the other moms were talking about lingere parties as well… like this. Of course if it were a craft supply party I’d love it (it would have to be reasonably priced though). Maybe I’ve found my niche!

TV shows
Ok, a couple shows I’m into which are worth mentioning: Battlestar Gallactica (do not. I repeat. do not laugh, it’s actually pretty good so far, well, ask me in a couple days once I’ve gotten through more episodes, but its not as geeky as you’d think); 30 Days (by Morgan Spurlock)-interesting look at what it’s like for people spending 30 days in someone else’s shoes-the other day I watched one where a strict border patrol officer spent 30 days with an illegal immigrant family.
